The ten-part mystery-of-the-week crime drama series ‘Poker Face’ created by ‘Knives Out’ helmer Rian Johnson recently concluded on streaming service Peacock just a couple of days back.
The character driven mystery show is narrated in ten standalone episodes. It features Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black, Russian Doll) in the lead role of a casino worker who flees after a mysterious death and tries to solve various murder mysteries while she is on the run. ‘Poker Face’ has already been renewed for a second season.
After its recent conclusion, the ‘Poker Face’ series is now ‘Certified Fresh’ and has attained a rare critics’ score on reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes. ‘Poker Face’ Season-1 has garnered an astounding Tomatometer score of 99% based on 86 ratings on the website. And in doing that, the ‘Poker Face’ series has beaten both ‘Knives Out’ (97%) and its sequel ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ (92%) on Rotten Tomatoes.
And not just on Rotten Tomatoes, ‘Poker Face’ has also achieved an impressive critics score of 84 on another reviews aggregator Metacritic and it indicates ‘Universal Acclaim’ as per the website. Moreover, on movies and series database portal IMDb, ‘Poker Face’ boasts of a decent user rating of 8/10.
So, as you can see here, Rian Johnson’s star-studded ‘Poker Face’ series has got a big thumbs-up from critics. Besides Natasha Lyonne in the main role, the show also features Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Benjamin Bratt, Ron Perlman, and Nick Nolte, amongst other cast members.
