The third and final season of Netflix’s popular Polish crime thriller series ‘The Mire’ finally has a release date on the streaming giant. Titled ‘The Mire Millennium’, the third season of ‘The Mire’ premieres on Netflix worldwide on 28th February, 2024. The series is called ‘Rojst’ in Polish.
Netflix announced the release date for ‘The Mire Millennium’ with a short teaser this afternoon. Though the teaser gives nothing away of the new season of The Mire, the music that accompanies the teaser is catchy and upbeat, amping up anticipation for The Mire Millennium. For those who don’t know, The Mire Season 2 was titled ‘The Mire 97’.
The story of The Mire follows a couple of cops in the small Polish town of Gryfino in the eighties, as they investigate the double murder of a politician and a prostitute. In The Mire 97, the scene shifts to the year 1997. The events centre on the aftermath of the devastating floods of 1997, the murder of a lad and a high-profile kidnapping.
In the new season of ‘The Mire’, yet another body turns up – that of a murdered woman, a fresh murder takes place and the past catches up with key characters in the series. The official synopsis of The Mire Millennium reads – “A time of change is coming. People anxiously await the new millennium. Meanwhile, in the forest of Gronty, a woman’s skeleton with a necklace has been uncovered, and a murder occurs during a birthday banquet at the Centrum hotel. Who and what is behind all this?”
Pivotal actors, Magdalena Różczka, Łukasz Simlat, Andrzej Seweryn, and Dawid Ogrodnik, return in The Mire Millennium, to reprise their roles from previous seasons. New entrants include popular actor Janusz Gajos, along with Tomasz Schuchardt, Filip Pławiak, Marianna Gierszewska, Michalina Łabacz, and Konrad Eleryk.
