Jio Studios has displayed the most shocking behavior in its treatment of the much-awaited Tamil film ‘Pon Ondru Kanden’. The Jio Studios presented film has been complete and awaiting release for a while now. But now, Jio Studios has gone and done something which even the smallest of studios wouldn’t do; let alone an organisation as prestigious and reputed as Jio Studios.
As per recent developments, Jio Studios has decided to skip the theatrical release of Tamil film ‘Pon Ondru Kanden’. Not just theatrical, Jio Studios has even decided not to release ‘Pon Ondru Kanden’ on OTT. Instead, Jio Studios has decided to premiere ‘Pon Ondru Kanden’ directly on TV, on its own TV channel, Colors TV Tamil.
As if that insult was not enough, Jio Studios shockingly did not even think it important to inform the makers, cast and crew of ‘Pon Ondru Kanden’ about its decision. Imagine releasing a film with well-known namaste eminent actors such as Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Vasanth Ravi directly on TV, and then not having the decency to even inform the team of the film about it!
Jio Studios really has taken things a bit too far this time.
Tamil film ‘Pon Ondru Kanden’ is directed by V. Priya, with its music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Actor Vasanth Ravi has called out the disgusting behavior of Jio Studios in a strongly worded post on X.
Vasanth Ravi wrote – “Extremely painful and disheartening to see the promo of #PonOndruKanden and announcement of World Satellite Premiere without any communication to @AshokSelvan, #Aishwaryalekshmi, @thisisysr sir, @directorpriya_v mam or anyone associated with the film !! We have worked really hard for this film. The whole team of #PonOndruKanden is totally unaware and not being informed about this at all !!”
