The newly released Kannada movie ‘Pottel’ has completed its first show with a satiable viewer intake and gratitude from its crew. What is the audience verdict? How diverse will its reception be in other fellow industries?
‘Pottel’ is a social action drama which is written and directed by Sahit Mothkhuri, along with Nishank Reddy Kudithi and Suresh Kumar Sadige bankrolling the effort under the banners of Nisa Entertainments, Pragnya Sannidhi Creations, and Sahit Mothkhuri writings respectively.
The storyline is based on an important social element blended with girl education and its limitations during the 1980s as well as the misconception in the cultural aesthetics believed in a conservative setup, which can be said as an unconventional idea.
Furthermore, the narrative can both be able to satisfy the mass audience as well as the creative observers. A compelling style of raw, gore, and gritty facets is demanded for the film and is achieved efficiently.
Subsequently, stunt sequences choreographed by Rabin Subbu, art direction by Narni Srinivas, and sound mixing by Rajakrishnan M R have been conceived effectively.
However, the screenplay is dragging and has a slow pace which is tiresome due to the over-consumption of time in character description and background. Again, the duration of the effort is comparatively more with the need of requirement to tell such an idea.
This leads the audience to lose the engaging factor of the movie albeit the colours, mass appealing scenes, and usual conservative sequences hence becoming a relief for the local audience.
The technical labour includes the handling of cinematography by Monish Bhupathi Raju, editing overseen by Karthika Srinivas R, and Shekhar Chandra composed the music as well as the background scores.
Performances by actors Yuva Chandra Krishna, and Ajay Noel are the watchable factors despite actors Ananya Nagalla, and Priyanka Sharma having less screen space. Mythri movie makers have acquired the distribution rights for the effort.
