Marathi cinema tackles a wide range of issues and genres, as evidenced by films like Sairat, Court, Killa, Shwaas, Natarang and Harishchandrachi Factory. In the dawn of a new era for Marathi cinema, comes another masterpiece in the name of Phullwanti.
With its release today, Snehal Pravin Tarde’s first feature film, “Phullwanti,” which stars Prajakta Mali and Gashmeer Mahajani, lived up to the hype that the internet had been generating about it. The trailer and songs have already taken over the audience’s hearts since it came out.
The film is set in the Peshwa era and relates the story of the dancer ‘Phullwanti’ and the renowned Peshwa scholar Venkat Shastri. It is based on Babasaheb Purandare’s Marathi novel of the same name.
Prajakta is the producer of the movie in addition to playing the principal role. Her own production company is in charge of the movie, which highlights her diverse range of skills.
Fans have been showering love for the film for its stunning visuals and intriguing plot. The fierce confrontation between Phulwanti and Narasimha Shastri, the two main characters, is the central focus of the film as they deliver strong performances throughout the film.
With a stellar cast, top-notch songs, dynamic cinematography and commendable performances, the film has been collecting good reviews all around since its release. With so much to offer, the Marathi cinema might gain a lot of momentum with films like Phullwanti making it mainstream in the future.
