On the 195th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule today, ‘Phule’ a film on his life has been announced with ‘Scam 1992’ fame Pratik Gandhi and ‘CityLights’ star Patralekhaa in the lead. To be helmed by National Award winner Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, ‘Phule’ will be available in cinemas in 2023.
Launching the film, the makers have revealed a poster of the film featuring Pratik Gandhi as Mahatma Phule and Patralekhaa as his wife Savitribai Phule.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh announced ‘Phule’ along with the poster and wrote,

‘Phule’ will tell the story of the 1800s Indian social activist, thinker, anti-caste social reformer and writer Jyotirao Phule also known as Jyotiba Phule or Mahatma Phule. He worked extensively to eradicate social evils like untouchability, caste discrimination. He and his wife Savitribai Phule were pioneers of women’s education in India. He also founded the Satyashodhak Samaj, to fight for equal rights for lower caste and oppressed people.
Ananth Narayan Mahadevan (‘Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, ‘Aksar’) serves as the director for ‘Phule’ that will be produced by Dr. Raj Kishore Khaware, Pranay Chowksi, Saurabh Varma, Utpaal Acharya, Anuya Chauhan Kudecha and Ritesh Kudecha. The production companies behind the film are Dancing Shiva and Content Engineers.
‘Phule’ will release in cinemas sometime in 2023. More details awaited.
