The much talked about Predator prequel ‘Prey’ was released directly on the streaming service Hulu on 5th August. The film has reportedly broken all records to become the most watched premiere on Hulu (owned by Disney) of all time in the first three days and that includes all the movies and series debut on the OTT platform.
Not just that, ‘Prey’ has also earned the distinction of becoming the most watched film premiere on the Star+ service in the Latin America region and on Disney Plus under the Star brand in other regions, with respect to viewing hours in the first three days. It’s mention-worthy that the movie is yet to stream on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform in India. However, the precise total viewing hours for ‘Prey’ have not been revealed by Disney.
After it started streaming on Hulu, ‘Prey’ had achieved the feat of becoming the best reviewed Predator movie ever, even surpassing the terrific parent film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger which was helmed by John McTiernan in 1987. ‘Prey’ currently holds a whopping 92% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 195 reviews compared to Predator’s 82%.
The original ‘Predator’ movie revolved around a rescue mission in a Central American jungle given to an elite commandos’ team led by Vietnam War veteran (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger). The mission takes an unexpected turn when the team is hunted down by a technologically advanced extraterrestrial warrior called the Predator.
‘Prey’, helmed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), revolves around a highly skilled female warrior Naru, who battles with a much more advanced alien predator in order to protect her tribe. The first ‘Predator’ movie can be streamed in India on PPV on Google Play, YouTube, and Apple iTunes. Stay tuned to Binged for an update on ‘Prey’ OTT release date on Disney+ Hotstar in India.
