American streaming platform Hulu has hit a home run with its latest original film, ‘Prey‘. The film has received excellent reviews all around – from critics, audiences and industry insiders. ‘Prey’ premiered on Hulu on August 5, and has proved to be a legit blockbuster for Hulu within a day of its release.
Since Hulu is available only in the U.S., ‘Prey’ is streaming globally on Disney Plus and Disney Plus Hotstar in the regions where they are available. For those wanting to know whether ‘Prey’ will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar in India too, the answer is – yes, it will.
For some strange reason, and unfortunately for Indian viewers, ‘Prey’ is already streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar Malaysia, Disney Plus Hotstar Indonesia, Disney Plus Hotstar Thailand – everywhere except India.
But Indian viewers can take heart because ‘Prey’ will definitely stream in India on Disney Plus Hotstar —and soon. Licensed films begin streaming at different times in different regions. The film premiered on Hulu on July 29. It began streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar in India on August 5, one week after its US release. And guess what, it has still not begun streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar Thailand etc. Not Okay arrives on Disney Plus Hotstar in the other South Asian countries on August 12.
As per our understanding, ‘Prey’ should begin streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar in India by tonight, tomorrow or latest by the coming week. Until then, all that viewers in India can do is to wait patiently for the latest Predator film to begin streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar.
A prequel to the ‘Predator’ series of films, ‘Prey’ has many firsts to its name. It’s the first ‘Predator’ film to release on streaming instead of in theatres. More significantly, it is the first Predator film that places a female protagonist at the centre of the action. Not only female, but an Indigenous American character at that.
‘Prey’ takes place in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, and follows Naru, the skilled warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator. The film stars Amber Midthunder as Naru, along with Dane DiLiegro, Stefany Mathias and Dakota Beaver in pivotal roles. Dan Trachtenberg has directed ‘Prey’.
