20th Century Studios’ Predator brought some newness to the industry and gained momentum among fans, making it a good watchable title with fresh ideas. The Predator universe is back, and this time, with a new standalone project: Badlands.
Predator was undoubtedly a success, so bringing something from that universe, and with a different mix of spices, was indeed a good idea.
Dan Trachtenberg will also make his comeback in the director’s chair and is rumored to have had several meetings regarding the lead character.
The plot and storyline updates are kept under wraps, but reportedly, the studio is treating it as a high priority in the near future. It is also rumored that filming will start this year, creating a tough schedule for Trachtenberg.
For context, he is still associated with the fifth season of Stranger Things. Wrapping up the entire story and letting it rest will be a big deal, especially for a series with such enormous caliber.
If executed properly, the budding universe can become one of the strongest franchises, and 20th Century does have a gem on their hands; they just have to handle it with care.
And there are talks to develop a new Prey movie as well. This is indeed a sweet time to expand the franchise and enter the big leagues.
