The movie was previously critically acclaimed, and the fans also showed their mass love. So, it was sort of inevitable for the 20th Century to give the film a spin-off.
As the news hits the market, the studio is determined to expand the franchise. There is even a confirmation about making a standalone Predator film by the end of the year, making it a top-priority project.
Now, Prey 2 will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg, similar to the other Predator project, but this film will start during the second half of 2025 as Trachtenberg has a pretty hectic schedule down the path, with finishing the fifth season of Stranger Things being one of them.
Then, the studio is already treating Predator as the top priority, and filming will be starting this year. So, these will result in a delay as the studio wants to commit them fully.
Talking about Prey 2, it is being said that the project is still in the works.
Reports are also stating that Prey 2, it will “return to the film’s original setting and with the film’s star, Amber Midthunder, potentially returning.”
And it is clear that fans want Amber Midthunder back and, as per the recent progress and the statement, she will definitely continue her journey as Naru.
Also, for the context of the critical success, the film has 7.1 on IMDb and 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, making a sequel a definite formula for success, if they don’t mess it up badly.
