After bringing streaming platforms such as BBC Player and Sony Pictures Stream on its Channels, Prime Video India has brought in the biggie. It is now offering the prestigious OTT platform MGM+ as part of its popular Prime Video Channels. Prime Video India subscribers can take an add-on subscription for MGM+ on the Prime Video app itself, under the Channels section, at a subscription cost of ₹599 for the whole year.
MGM+ is the streaming arm of legendary production company, MGM Studios. Amazon had bought MGM Studios for a massive sum several years ago. Through the MGM+ add-on subscription, Prime Video users can watch the studio’s most famous titles on their own screens. MGM+ offers an extensive and enthralling selection of entertainment including critically acclaimed and popular series, blockbuster movies and timeless classics primarily from the iconic Hollywood studio, MGM.
But here’s the catch. MGM+ on Prime Video Channels in India barely has 200-250 titles right now, including movies like Legally Blonde, Hercules, The Prodigy, The Silence of the Lambs, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Robocop, The Vow, Child’s Play, Death Wish, and more. It is also streaming 13 series currently, including Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Teen Wolf, Get Shorty, among others.
On the other hand, the American counterpart of MGM+ has more than 6000 titles, including all the James Bond movies, classics such as Chinatown and Rosemary’s Baby, Platoon, shows such as ‘From’, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Godfather Of Harlem, The Winter King, The Magnificent Seven, and scores of others, none of which is available to stream in the Indian version of MGM+.
Let’s hope MGM+ brings all the titles it streams in the USA to its app on Prime Video Channels in India. If it does so, then ₹599 for a year will be a steal for Indian movie and series fans.
