Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video have signed a deal on the international streaming of the two Star Trek shows, ‘Star Trek: Picard‘ and ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’. The deal will help Paramount+ in building its viewer base outside the U.S as well. All the previous seasons of the two shows will be made available on both the platforms later this month.
Legendary actor Patrick Stewart will be reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard in Star Treks: Picard. LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner and Jeri Ryan will be reprising their roles as well.
Star Trek: Picard tells the story of retired Starfleet admiral Jean-Luc Picard. The story begins after two long decades after his appearance in ‘Star Trek: Nemesis’ that came out in 2002. It is the eighth Star Trek series and premiered in 2020 and has two seasons so far. ‘Star Treks: Lower Decks’ on the other hand tells the story of the low-ranking crew and officers of the starship Cerritos. It is the franchise’s second animated series since the Star Trek: The Animated Series that came out in the 1970s. Lower Decks too premiered in 2020 and has a total of three seasons.
So, with Paramount+, the third and last season of ‘Star Treks: Picard’ will also be available on Amazon Prime Video at the same time. It will be released in the U.S and in Latin America on the 16th of February and will premiere in Switzerland, France, Austria, Germany, Australia, Italy and U.K a day after on the 17th of February.
