Prime Video Bags Post-Theatrical Streaming Rights for 4 YRF Movies

Indian OTT platform Amazon Prime Video has recently made an exciting announcement regarding its licensing deal with the eminent film production and distribution company Yash Raj Films. The licensing deal is for four upcoming YRF movies that are set to exclusively stream on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform merely four weeks after these films’ theatrical releases.

The first of these four films is the upcoming heist comedy movie ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ starring Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Sharvari in the lead roles. It’s the sequel to the 2005 hit film and Shaad Ali’s directorial venture ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ and is slated to release in theatres on 19th November 2021.

The second YRF movie on the list is the Akshay Kumar starrer historical action film ‘Prithviraj’ which is based on the life of the legendary and fearless king Prithviraj Chauhan. Helmed by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, who had previously directed and essayed the titular role in cult television series ‘Chanakya’, ‘Prithviraj’ is expected to release in theatres on 21st January 2022.

The next YRF theatrical release would be ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ which is being touted as a humorous entertainer with a social message set in Gujarat and the effervescent performer Ranveer Singh will be playing the role of a Gujarati man in the film. ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ is set to release in cinemas on 25th February 2022.

The last and one of the most anticipated YRF movies on the list is the period action drama ‘Shamshera’ featuring the immensely talented actor Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role. Directed by Karan Malhotra, ‘Shamshera’ is being described as a high-octane, edge of the seat, period action-adventure, which is set in the heartland of India and is said to contain some jaw-dropping action sequences. ‘Shamshera’ is slated for a grand theatrical release on 18th March 2022.

All these four movies of Yash Raj Films will commence streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform four weeks after their aforementioned theatrical release dates. In doing that, these four films will join the much-loved YRF hit movies like ‘Darr’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, ‘Thugs of Hindostan’, ‘War’, and ‘Mardaani’, etc., that are already streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
