Prime Video India has just dropped the first trailer for its upcoming film ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’. The Dharma Productions movie will premiere on Prime Video on 21st March, 2024.
Sara Ali Khan starrer ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ is a period drama, in the backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle. The events of the film take place in and around the year 1942. The British are in the process of brutally quashing the Quit India Movement of 1942. Most of India’s principal freedom fighters are in jail, and the rest are in hiding. It falls upon a chit of a girl to keep the freedom movement alive in the hearts and homes of the common people.
Armed with just a radio, Sara Ali Khan’s character turns the freedom struggle on its head, bringing new vigour into the movement that is on the verge of being silenced. As her voice rings out from radios in people’s homes across the country, she becomes a threat for the British.
The trailer depicts the story in sepia tones, a common cinematic device for capturing period dramas. Despite focused on India’s struggle for independence, the Ae Watan Mere Watan trailer is quite dull and drab, and not the least bit rousing. Let’s hope that the movie itself is better.
Ae Watan Mere Watan is written and directed by Kannan Iyer, and co-written by Darab Farooqui. It is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Besides Sara Ali Khan, the film stars Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’ Nell and Anand Tiwari in pivotal roles. There’s also a special guest appearance by Emraan Hashmi.
Ae Watan Mere Watan premieres on Prime Video India on 21st March, 2024. Have a look at the trailer of the movie –
