Amazon Prime Video India has marked a remarkable year in 2023, commissioning 22 series and three feature films, the highest number since its launch in 2016. The streaming service has not only witnessed a surge in content creation but has also experienced significant consumer engagement.
India stands out as a leader in Prime member engagement with Prime Video. No other region boasts a higher percentage of Prime members actively watching Prime Video each month. Indian content has consistently held a strong position on the global stage, trending in the top 10 on Prime Video worldwide for 47 out of the last 52 weeks, claiming an impressive 15% of the total top 10 slots.
Sushant Sreeram, the country director of Prime Video India, has expressed the streaming platform’s commitment to doubling down on investments in the region.
This is nothing but a perfect understanding of what the Indian audience truly wants. They not only focussed on the Hindi series but brought something from the South of India as well. With series like Jubilee and and Farzi, they chose high production value and engaging storyline. Although they have a lot to learn on how to make documentaries, they are investing significantly in the same. Others just need to understand the Indian market as well as Prime Video did, success awaits them.
