Amazon has given us a Christmas gift, the company recently slashed the price of its annual Prime Lite membership plan by Rs 200, bringing it down to an attractive Rs 799. This pocket-friendly version, introduced earlier this year for Rs 999, comes with some noteworthy changes, particularly in its offerings related to Prime Video and Amazon Music.
One of the significant changes in the Prime Lite membership is the enhancement of delivery benefits. Lite members now enjoy free same-day and one-day deliveries, a considerable improvement from the earlier two-day delivery window.
While the Lite plan continues to provide access to Amazon’s vast library of content on Prime Video, there is a catch. The resolution is now restricted only to HD, and users will experience ads on one device. This is quite some compromise but it is a big deal nonetheless for Rs 799 only.
This is a departure from the previous allowance of simultaneous streaming on two devices. Despite these limitations, the cost-effective nature of the Lite plan might make it an attractive option for those who can compromise on the video streaming experience.
One notable trade-off with the Lite membership is the exclusion of services like Amazon Music. Prime Lite members won’t have access to the extensive music library offered by Amazon Music, potentially affecting users who are avid music enthusiasts.
Choosing between the standard Prime membership and Prime Lite depends on individual preferences and priorities. Yes, there are some compromises but it is still a good deal.
