Analysis:
There were very few original releases on Amazon Prime Video in March 2024. Prime Video India is always a bit negligent on the side of original films, but this time there was quite an interesting title that could have done a lot better. ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’ did not do very good, despite much anticipation. The Tamil mystery thriller ‘Inspector Rishi’, keeping up the legacy of previous Tamil shows on Prime Video, did a great job and attracted many viewers. There were no other original shows, but there were two Partnered shows with Amazon MiniTV. The third season of ‘Playground’ attracted quite some attention due to internet trends.
Among the licensed movies, the Malayalam ones did particularly good. Movies like ‘Aattam’, ‘Marakkuma Nenjam’ were appreciated by viewers. Other regional films like ‘Itta Kitta’ were rated very highly by audiences. There were multiple Marathi titles, some of them were quite popular, like ‘Satyashodhak’. But the humongous list of listless movies added to Prime Video this March does not at all add up to its performance. Its overall performance cannot be rated more than 5 out of 10.
