It’s been more than three months Rakshit Shetty’s ‘777 Charlie’, one of 2022’s highly celebrated movies, has been out on Prime Video but the viewers, including subscribers, have to pay to watch it. The film helmed by Kiranraj K. released in theatres on 10th June last year and received huge critical acclaim alongside a good run at the box office.
‘777 Charlie’ has been available for streaming on Voot in original Kannada since July, 2022 and on Prime Video in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam since September, 2022. While Voot subscribers can watch the film in original language without any extra payment, it’s not the same for Prime Video users who still need to pay the extra amount.
While most theatrically released films that premiere for rent on Prime Video become available for subscribers after some time, that hasn’t been the case for ‘777 Charlie’. This might be due to producer’s discretion, but fans across India who have been waiting for the film to release rent free in their respective languages on Prime Video remain disappointed.
No doubt the film is class apart and needs no introduction, it could have reached to many more viewers across India had it gone rent free on Prime Video within a few days after being on rent. In all we know, Prime Video and ‘777 Charlie’ makers missed out on a great opportunity here.
