Amazon Prime Video has recently announced that the Japanese-Korean joint production ‘Knuckle Girl’ will be premiering on the 2th of November. This is the live-action adaptation of a popular webtoon of the same name.
The movie will tell the story of a girl named Ran Tachibana who is a professional boxer. Tachibana infiltrates into a crime syndicate, risking her own life, in order to save her sister from the gang.
Japanese actor Ayaka Miyoshi plays the lead role, and she is said to have trained for six months to get in the skin of the character. She trained in professional boxing for the role of Ran Tachibana. She has said, “The role of Ran was very challenging. I’m new to boxing, but had to look like a pro. I hope viewers worldwide will enjoy this ambitious Japanese-Korean collaboration.” Ayaka is known for her role in the Netflix show ‘Alice In Borderland’. The movie is directed by Korean filmmaker Chang. He has expressed his excitement in working with a cast and crew that has both Japanese and Korean people.
James Farrell, the Vice President of Local Originals in Amazon Studios, has said, “This is the first live-action adaptation of an original webcomic and our first Japanese-Korean collaboration, and I can’t be happier with the result.”
‘Knuckle Girl’ was circulated as a webtoon in Korea through the platform KakaoPage and through Piccoma in Japan. If you like Japanese-Korean action thrillers, do not forget to watch Knuckle Girl from November 2 onwards.
