Prime Video’s latest family comedy drama series ‘Dupahiya’ will be returning for a second season as the streamer green lights its renewal.
‘Dupahiya’, a creation of Avinash Dwivedi, Chirag Garg, Salona Bains Joshi, and Shubh Shivdasani, is a rural comedy drama that follows a family whose dreams of getting their daughter married to a city boy are jeopardised when the wedding gift, a motorbike, gets stolen from a village that has remained crime free for the past 25 years.
The show very well captures the themes of dowry, male chauvinism, rural-urban disparities, gender discrimination, societal stigma with complexion, and more. The heartfelt drama, backed by excellent performances from the ensemble cast, keeps it light and fun while addressing it all.
The first season of ‘Dupahiya’ does not have much of a cliffhanger ending but yes there are open ends that the viewers would want to see getting a closure. Whether Roshni (Shivani Raghuvanshi) gets to complete her challenge of becoming self-dependent or not; what’s next for Amavas (Bhuvan Arora); what will Bhugol (Sparsh Shrivastava) do now that he’s gone viral on social media; will Banwari’s (Gajraj Rao) job become permanent; how will Pushplata (Renuka Shahane) move ahead in her political journey, where will Nirmal’s (Komal Kushwaha) newfound self love take her and much more.
