Analysis:
The performance of Amazon Prime Video India has been quite disappointing in the month of September. There are many licensed films, which has become a regular thing for the platform, but there are no notable original projects to root for in September. ‘Bambai Meri Jaan’ is the only original show released on Prime Video in September and that was, indeed, quite impressive. Bambai Meri Jaan comes from Excel Entertainment, the production house that gave Prime Video the massive success of ‘Made In Heaven S2’ in the last month. They save the face of the platform once again in September.
There are no original movies in the list, which is quite a disheartening thing to see from such a huge streaming platform. Where new platforms like JioCinema and the old ones like Netflix are releasing back to back original movies, Prime Video does not seem to be concerned about producing anything in this format.
The licensed films list is big enough but there are very few memorable names. ‘Jailer’ and ‘Rocky Aur Rani’ attracted a good number of viewers but it was ‘Sapta Saagaradaache Ello’ that impressed viewers more than anything. Also movies like ‘Nalla Nilavula Rathri’, ‘Lucky Man’ and ‘Pappachan Olivilaanu’ did quite a good job attracting viewers.
The overall performance of the platform was not at all good for September and we cannot rate it more than 4/10.
