The Cannes Film Festival 2023 has already kicked off bidding wars for the buzziest films at the festival. Today is just the first day of the most prestigious film festival and film market in the world, and we already have majorly exciting news coming out of Cannes.
In the first of buzzy acquisitions at Cannes 2023, streaming giant Prime Video has swooped in to grab one of the buzziest films at the film market. Titled ‘The Boogeyman: The Origin of the Myth’, it is a Spanish horror film, which boasts a stellar cast and crew. Prime Video grabbed the streaming rights for the Spanish film amidst intense bidding wars to acquire the horror film.
Film exhibition company FilmSharks has acquired world distribution rights for ‘The Boogeyman: The Origin of the Myth’. The Spanish title of the film is El Hombre Del Saco.
The Boogeyman: The Origin of the Myth follows a group of teenagers who discover that the terrifying legend of The Bogeyman is real, after the mysterious disappearances of several children in their small town. The film stars Javier Botet (The Conjuring 2), Macarena Gomez (30 Coins) and Manolo Solo (The Good Boss). The film is directed by Ángel Gómez Hernández from a screenplay by Juma Fodde (You shall Not Sleep), Ignacio García Cucucovich, Ángel Gómez Hernández (Voces) and Gustavo Hernández (The Silent House).
