Helmed by Masaharu Take, the live-action Like A Dragon series will consist of six episodes. It will take inspiration from the first part (2005’s Yakuza) of the prominent video game series developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. The series will revolve around the noble yakuza member, Kiryu Kazuma, who takes the fall for a murder he did not commit. As a result, he is forced to spend a decade in prison for his false crime.
The show’s storyline will take place in two different timelines: 1995 and 2005, and touches on the lives of two childhood buddies (Kiryu and Nishikiyama), and the repercussions of the decision made by Kiryu. Nakamura Yugo and Sean Crouch worked on the project’s story and screenplay, respectively. On the other hand, Yamada Kana and Yoshida Yasuhiro have prepared the Japanese screenplay. The Fool serves as the show’s producer, along with Roberto Grande, Joshua Lon, and Erik Barmack serving as its executive producers. Stay tuned for more updates.
