Diehard fans of Amazon Prime Video’s acclaimed animated superhero series ‘Invincible’ were all waiting with bated breath for the release of the second season, which finally started streaming from 3rd November after a long gap of around 2.5 years. ‘Invincible Season-2’ has been getting a phenomenal response from critics and viewers (100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes). Despite the rave reviews, the show’s fans have expressed their disappointment and annoyance at the second season’s release strategy.
Unlike ‘Invincible Season-1’, whose first three episodes concurrently premiered on Prime Video and the remaining on a weekly basis, the makers adopted a different release strategy for ‘Invincible S2’. Because the opening episode of Season-2 premiered on 3rd November followed by three episodes which were released on a weekly basis. But the thing is that the remaining four episodes of ‘Invincible S2’ will premiere sometime in early 2024. So, fans will have to wait for another few months to watch the whole Season-2 after a terrific mid-season finale.
This two-part release strategy for ‘Invincible Season-2’ has irked a lot of fans, who are of the view that the wait would be killing, and the decision does not make any sense. Especially because the mid-season finale (Episode-4) of the series has apparently ended on a cliffhanger.
The first season ended in April 2021. Season 2 finally comes out after 2 and half years only for it to release 4 episodes and now they are making their audience wait for god knows how many more months for the next 4 episodes. This doesn't make sense! #Invincible https://t.co/L0xJXiVe4w

Fans have a solid point. But that has been the case with multiple shows from different OTT platforms who adopt the strategy to release a single season of a show in two different parts. Whether Prime Video has broken ‘Invincible Season-2’ into two parts to spread its viewership or whether it has done it because of lack of a good number of titles releasing in the same period, we can’t say for sure.
We think any show’s season, if it is being released in two parts, should have a complete story arc of its own, and not end in a cliffhanger like in the case of ‘Invincible S2’. And even if they do that, the release gap should not be more than a few weeks. But that’s not the case here.
Having said that, in case you have still not watched the ‘Invincible’ series, then we highly recommend you stream it on Amazon Prime Video. It’s easily one of the best shows around. The underlying story revolves around Mark Grayson, whose superhero father Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons) is the most powerful person on planet Earth. After Mark gains his own superpowers at 17, he struggles to transform himself into the titular superhero Invincible and tries to balance it with his regular life. But he is shocked after learning that he must save the world from an unlikely and undefeatable enemy.
