Amazon Prime has done something really big. It has given its U.S. members a special treat that no one saw coming. Starting June 10, Prime members in the U.S. can book early tickets to watch the new Superman film in theaters on July 8, three days before the movie releases across the world on July 11. It’s a major move and one that will definitely earn Amazon a lot of engagement.
The film, directed by James Gunn, is the first big Superman movie under the new DC Studios. It stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Fans are already excited, and now U.S. Prime members get to watch it before everyone else. That’s a big win for them. Not only that, but there’s also a charity option where fans can round up their ticket amount to donate to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, courtesy of Fandango’s Roundup program with whom Amazon has collaborated to bring about this massive event to fruition. So, it’s a mix of fun and good cause.
But this offer is only for the U.S. Despite India being a huge market for Amazon, such big benefits are often only kept for American users. It’s a bit disappointing because Indian fans love superhero films too. This could have been a golden chance to make Indian Prime members feel truly special.
Still, this move shows how Amazon is trying to go beyond just being a shopping or streaming service. It wants to become a part of people’s bigger entertainment life. And with a film like Superman, it has taken a giant step. Hopefully, next time, Indian fans will also get to be part of the celebration.
