We had previously made our readers aware that Amazon Studios had, last September, officially greenlit the spin-off series of the immensely popular superhero-genre parody show ‘The Boys’. Since then, the makers of the yet-untitled superhero college-based show, which had commenced production last week, have been trying to put together the series’ main cast.
In the latest casting update, Korean American actress London Thor has replaced Reina Hardesty as one of the show’s lead cast members. She has earlier been a part of some popular shows like ‘You’ and ‘Shameless’. She would join the show’s existing cast comprising Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, and Maddie Phillips.
Besides London Thor, other actors who have joined ‘The Boys’ spin-off series are Derek Luh, Asa Germann, and Shelley Conn. Derek Luh’s acting credits include the ‘Shining Vale’ series and Shelly Conn’s earlier projects were ‘Bridgerton’, and ‘Good Omens’, amongst others. While the spin-off show would be Asa Germann’s first major acting role.
‘The Boys’ spin-off series revolves around America’s only college for young adult superheroes which is run by the evil Vought Corporation, which is known for founding the elite but corrupt superhero team – ‘The Seven’. The college-themed spin-off show is said to have some elements of the ‘Hunger Games’ series.
‘The Boys’ spin-off was announced after the phenomenal streaming success of ‘The Boys’ second season, which started streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform from September 2020. ‘The Boys’ creator Erik Kripke had earlier said that the new show would center around the G-Men team from the comics.
Fans might already be aware that ‘The Boys’ is a satirical take on one of the most popular comic-book superheroes. Likewise, in the comics, the G-Men team is portrayed as Vought’s most bankable and also the most popular team and is ostensibly a parody of Marvel’s X-Men and DC’s Doom Patrol.
Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on the yet-untitled college-based ‘The Boys’ spin-off series. Meanwhile, you can watch the first two seasons of ‘The Boys’ and its animated spin-off ‘The Boys Presents: Diabolical’ on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform. ‘The Boys’ Season-3 is slated to start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 3rd June 2022.
