Last year, streaming service Amazon Prime Video had announced a massive list of forty titles for its OTT platform. And amongst them was a Tamil language web series called ‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’. And just a few moments back, Amazon Prime Video finally announced the release date for the forthcoming show. ‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’ will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video from 6th July onwards in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages.
‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’ is a series which narrates the story of three women belonging to three different generations (played by Lakshmi, Madhoo, and Santhy Balachandran) and the bumpy (mis)adventures that follow after the unlikely trio embarks on a road trip braving the unknown. But during the trip, their lives begin to turn upside down and how they deal with the situation ostensibly forms the show’s underlying premise. Although, as of now, the precise plot details are currently not known.
‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’ has been directed by Bejoy Nambiar along with Krishna Marimuthu, Swathi Raghuraaman. Bejoy Nambiar, who is known for directing offbeat and experimental films like ‘Shaitan’, ‘David’, ‘Solo’, and ‘Wazir’, is not new to the OTT world. Because previously, he has also directed the Zee5 web series ‘Taish’ followed by a segment in the anthology ‘Navarasa’ and the mystery thriller Netflix series ‘The Fame Game’ headlined by veteran Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit.
‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’ will also be veteran actress Lakshmi’s (Chattakari, Julie, Mithunam) OTT web series debut. Madhu, the lead actress of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Roja’ is also playing a major role in the upcoming web series. Moreover, the show will also serve as Malayalam actress Santhy Balachandran’s Tamil web series debut. Let’s see how Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Sweet Kaaram Coffee’ turns out to be.
