Prison Break has been one of the top drama shows even 15 years after it first broke onto our TV screens and into our lives. The drama series which began in 2005 aired until 2009. And after huge public demand, it returned for a 5th season in 2017, in the form of a revival. Since then, the expectations for a sixth season of Prison Break have been sky high. But the road to a potential sixth season has been anything but smooth.
There were several moments where the lead actors teased that a possible sixth season of PB is on the cards and they are working on it. Dominic Purcell, who played Lincoln Burrows on the show, regularly hinted on his social media accounts of a possible revival of the series. This kept fans of Prison Break excited for a long period of time.
But all the excitement and hopes of fans were dashed when in November 2020, Wentworth Miller, who played the lead role of the mastermind – Michael Scofield, announced on social media that he’ll not be returning for a potential sixth season of Prison Break. Miller, who himself is gay, announced that he’s done playing straight characters and won’t be returning for Prison Break. This news broke the hearts of fans, because let’s be honest, there’s no Prison Break without Michael Scofield.
Dominic Purcell himself took to Instagram and explained the fact that he has tried to convince Wentworth, but it is going to be the same and he fully respects Miller’s decision. He said –
“I cannot persuade, nor would I even attempt to persuade him to betray his truth. So, that’s it, six isn’t gonna happen, and if it does happen it’s not gonna happen with myself or Wentworth because I’m loyal to Wentworth”.
But now as of January 1st 2021, Wentworth Miller has deleted his Instagram post where he mentioned his departure from Prison Break. The post has disappeared from his Instagram, sending fans into a tizzy! Hope has sprung anew for the future of the show. Miller, who is known for his unorthodox style of maintaining his Instagram account, posted a white background picture and wrote a long caption explaining his side of the story. But could it be possible that since he has deleted the picture and caption, he is rethinking his decision and reconsidering his approach towards the show? Has Dominic Purcell been successful in persuading Wentworth Miller to put aside his misgivings and give Prison Break Season 6 a shot? Will there be the much awaited sixth season of Prison Break?
So yes, there is a possibility of Wentworth Miller returning to the show. And if Miller returns then surely we’ll be seeing Dominic Purcell back as well. Note that there’s no official confirmation for the future of the show from the makers or the cast and crew. This is a calculated analysis on our part. But Prison Break 6 happening would be great news for every PB fan, including me! And if there’s anything brewing, let’s just hope we get to see the brothers back in action as soon as possible!
