Prithviraj Joins Mohanlal’s ‘Barroz’ Shoot. Shares Set Picture.

Ezra’ actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has reportedly commenced shooting for the upcoming period-fantasy-adventure film and actor Mohanlal’s directorial debut ‘Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure’. He also shared a picture, from the set, of him and Mohanlal preparing for a scene, which is being shot in Kerala.

The premise of the film is about a man names Barroz (played by Mohanlal), who tries to protect a 400-year-old treasure of Portuguese explorer Vasco D’Gama and is entrusted to deliver the treasure to the true descendent. Incidentally, Vasco D’Gama was the first European to reach India by sea and Barroz’ character is reportedly based on a Portuguese person of the same name.

Besides Mohanlal and Prithviraj – Pratap Pothen, Rafael Amargo, Shayla McCaffrey (playing the parallel lead) and Paz Vega will also act in the film, which is set against the backdrop of the maritime history of Portugal, Spain, Africa and India. Veteran actor Mohanlal was last seen in Jeetu Joseph’s sequel to his mystery-thriller film ‘Drishyam’, which was extremely well received by the audience.

Mohanlal is not taking any chances for his maiden directorial venture. He has assembled a competent team for his forthcoming film. The film will be edited by legendary editor Sreekar Prasad, who is renowned for his editing skills in films like Dil Chahta Hai, Talvar, Kaminey, Guru, etc.). Moreover, Barroz’ cinematographer would be helmed by Santosh Sivan, who has previously been associated with beautifully shot films including Roja, Dil Se, and Raavan.

Furthermore, the 15-year-old and winner of the reality show ‘The World’s Best’ – Lydian Nadhaswaram will compose the film’s music. And since Barroz is supposed to be a 3D film, Mohanlal had roped in the technically brilliant Jijo Punnoose as the film’s screenplay writer, who gave India her first-ever 3D film ‘Chota Chetan’ back in the year 1998.

‘Iruvar’ actor Mohanlalnext film as an actor would likely be B. Unnikrishnan’s actioner ‘Aaraattu’. While amongst other films, Prithviraj’s next is the remake of the cult Hindi film – Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Andhadhun’, where he would be seen essaying Ayushmann Khurrana’s character.
