Prithviraj Sukumaran is all set to make his debut in the world of web series. The latest news is that the stellar Malayalam cinema star will direct his first ever web series, and that too a Hindi web series. The series will tell the interesting story of India’s ‘Biscuit King’ Rajan Pillai. It will chronicle the meteoric rise and then the astonishing fall of the erstwhile head of biscuits and confectionery giant Britannia Industries.
Yoodlee Films, the content production arm of music behemoth Saregama, is producing the series. Prithviraj Sukumaran will not only direct the series but will also essay the role of Rajan Pillai in it. The story of the Biscuit King of India is no less intriguing than the best of soap operas. There’s crime, scams, money, police chases, interpol alerts, corporate drama, deceit, betrayal in Rajan Pillai’s story, ultimately culminating in his mysterious death in police custody. There’s also a whiff of conspiracy in his untimely death. All this makes Rajan Pillai’s life story an interesting subject for a series. We might even have another Scam 1992 in the making.
Prithviraj Sukumaran is one of the few who has embraced OTT and streaming whole-heartedly. Three of his films released on OTT platforms this year, Bhramam, Kuruthi and Cold Case. Now, the actor stepping into web series production is a natural progression for him to own the field.
The series on the ‘Biscuit King’ plans to go on floors in mid-2022. There’s no title for it yet. Stay tuned to Binged.com for further news on this story.
