Malayalam cinema and slice of life is a match made in heaven. The latest addition to this family of feel good dramas is Antony Sony directorial ‘Priyan Ottathilanu’. The film had a theatrical release on 24th June 2022. The streaming rights of the film is now bagged by Manorama Max.
‘Priyan Ottathilanu‘ follows the story of Dr Priyadarshan, who is a good Samaritan and a go-to-go person for every near and dear. Many a times he keeps his own commitments aside to fulfill the needs of others. As priyan goes through the pangs of hyperactivity and ADHD, he gets entangled in quite few messes. He meets Priscilla,a doubtful, fiesty modern day woman who suffers from PTSD. What happens to the two of the over the course of a day and how their lives change form the crux of the story. Superstar Mammootty also appears in the film in an small yet impactful cameo.
Although the box-office returns of the film weren’t great, the film was critically appreciated. Critics in particular appreciated the casting, intent and scripting of the film. Sharafudheen’s internalised performance of a hyperactive and endearing person who lies in the ADHD spectrum and Nyla Usha’s performance as a woman who is suffering from PTSD was very much raved about.
The slice of life movie is scripted by Abhayakumar K and Anil Kurian. PM Unnikrishnan handled the cinematography and Joel Kavi handled editing. Lijin Bambino and Vishnu Govind composed the music. The film will stream on Manorama Max in the month of July. However the exact date of streaming is not revealed yet. Stay tuned for more details.
