The news of Priyanka being cast opposite new Captain America aka Anthony Mackie in ” Ending Things ” ruffled some enthusiastic feathers just recently and now we have another exciting news for her fans and well-wishers.
Deadline reports that Amazon Studios have acquired Shipli Somaya Gowda’s bestseller novel “Secret Daughter” adaptation with Priyanka Chopra and Sienna Miller in lead roles. Singaporean Anthony Chen (Ilo Ilo, Wet Season) who is also the first ever Singaporean Cannes Palme D’or winner is attached to direct. Shruti Ganguly will pen the script. Sunset Lane Media will produce along with Chopra’s Purple Pebble Productions, Sienna Miller and Tori Cook.
The international bestseller narrates a moving story from the perspectives of two mothers interconnected by a child. Somer, a newly married physician(to an Indian man) in San Francisco discovers her inability to conceive. The very same time in India, Kavita – a poor mother makes a gut-wrenching choice to save her newborn by giving her to an orphanage in Mumbai. Somer and her husband Krishnan adopts Asha who happens to be the biological child of Kavita. Haunted by that one decision every day of her life, Kavita reunites with Asha the child who binds the two families’ destinies. The story is a gut-wrenching take on a child being the binding force of an adoptive family and birth family.
On the work front, Priyanka Chopra has recently wrapped filming her first English film in a leading role “Text For You” which is also Celine Dion’s acting debut. She also has the Russo Brothers’ mothership spy series for Amazon Prime alongside Richard Madden, Farhan Akhtar directorial “Jee Le Zara” co-starring Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif marking her return to bollywood, Universal’s Wedding Comedy with Mindy Kaling and Barry Levinson directorial “Sheela” for Amazon in her meaty line-up.
