Kannada Superstar Puneeth Rajkumar’s Yuvarathnaa is premiering on Amazon Prime Video from April 9th (Today’s midnight). The movie is releasing on the OTT platform eight days from theatrical release day. The film’s theatrical run has been cut short after Karnataka Government imposed 50% occupancy in the theaters due to the COVID second wave.
Interestingly, the actor and director gave an interview to the Telugu media a few minutes before the Digital Premiere announcement. They were trying to promote the movie in the theaters of both the Telugu States. Both of them sounded like they are not aware of the film’s Digital Premiere. At the time of writing this article, the actor did not even tweet about the film’s Digital Premiere. That brings us to the question of if the star is not taken into confidence while taking the decision.
Yuvarathnaa has become the second biggie to opt for an early release on OTT after Vijay’s Master. With the COVID Second Wave and restrictions of theaters likely, we may see the trend for more films in the coming days. Yuvarathnaa is a story about a college principal’s fight against privatization for his college which is on the verge of closing due to the privatization of the education system and political reasons.
