A significant aspect of Indian entertainment is the diversity rooted in the culture. With changing demographics, languages change, and so does the language of entertainment. Like many other countries, India has a rich collection of regional platforms.
KableOne is a new addition, aiming to satisfy the hunger for Punjabi content for both Indian audiences and people overseas. Punjabi content has one of the most dedicated fanbases, and KableOne might crack the market with exclusive Punjabi content.
However, what sets them apart is the astronomical pricing.
Fans are already struggling with the increasing prices of OTT platforms as they opt for multiple services. A lower price tag could have convinced more users to choose this service.
Regarding pricing, it targets a premium audience, which might alienate some viewers. There are five plans: two are yearly, two are monthly, and one is a bi-annual plan.
Premium Yearly- ₹4000/Yr
Bi-Annual Premium- ₹2500/Yr
Basic Yearly- 2500/Yr
Premium Monthly- ₹600/Month
Basic Monthly- ₹249/Monthly

And let’s draw a comparison, shall we? This is a comparison for the basic plans for TV and PC between Netflix, Prime Video and KableOne.

We have no idea what convinced KableOne to maintain such high pricing, but it’s clear that with the variety Netflix and Prime Video provide, KableOne will struggle to compete. The content they produce and stream will be quite limited, plus they have a high price point. Unfortunately, KableOne appears to be a malfunctioning business plan. Although Punjabi content has a fanbase and potential, it is unclear what led them to decide on this pricing.
