Amazon Prime Video is showing why it deserves the top spot in the Telugu OTT space. The OTT giant has successfully orchestrated an early OTT release for a pan-India biggie like Pushpa: The Rise. The Allu Arjun starrer is set to be made available for streaming on Amazon Prime from the 7th of January. In the meanwhile, Netflix has taken a rather pedestrian stand when it comes to the OTT release of Shyam Singha Roy.
Going into the story, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise is still running in select centres across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The film is doing particularly well in the Hindi circuit. But that didn’t stop Amazon Prime from giving the film an early OTT release. The aggressive approach and the intent is there to be seen.
On the other hand, Netflix is yet to even drop some sort of update on its prized acquisition Shyam Singha Roy. The Nani starrer is virtually out of every manjor centre in the twin Telugu states and its theatrical run is all but over. This is just about the right time to release the film on OTT, while it is still fresh in the minds of the Telugu audience, But Netflix is putting very little effort in this regard.
Theatrical releases tend to lose the steam at a rather brisk pace follwowing their outing and it is essential that their digital streaming partners give them the earliest possible OTT release in order to cash in on any hype that is still left. Amazon Prime is showing the way forward when it comes to the same. Pushpa: The Rise, a pan-India biggie which released on 17th December is arriving on Amazon Prime on 7th January. Netflix should take a cue from this and try and orchestrate the earliest possible OTT release for Shyam Singha Roy.
