How irresponsible can something really be? Humans have probably been in search of the answer, and now, thanks to PVR, we might have one.
India doesn’t have much exposure to IMAX, so when talking about multiplexes, INOX and PVR are the two prominent candidates, generally keeping audiences satisfied. But one recent event has made people question their authenticity.
The whole incident started with “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.”
One theater in Mumbai, Maison PVR, made a questionable choice in terms of streaming technique. Instead of using a DCP (Digital Cinema Package), they chose to screen it through Apple TV. This creates several major problems.
Firstly, the quality of the stream will never be nearly as good as DCP. Even with 4K streaming, the quality can never emulate that of a movie theater. Additionally, the sound quality will never be as good as with the DCP model.
Faded colors, laggy streaming, and poor sound left fans practically unhappy. Just see this tweet:
Hi @_PVRCinemas @PVRSupport, I had a disappointing experience at Maison PVR, Mumbai, watching 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish' due to faded colors & poor sound quality, streamed from Apple TV rather than a DCP. I've emailed twice requesting a refund but haven't heard back. pic.twitter.com/BoclGH8XUQ

Although it is said that the manager was cooperative about the issue, he also referred the user to contact the management online. When contacted online, the management was unresponsive and nothing resulted from it.
While no other user has raised this exact issue on Twitter, there must be others who faced the same problem. If more incidents like this surface, it will definitely harm the chain, badly.
