R Madhavan and Dia Mirza starrer Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein was and has been the favourite romantic movie of many. The innocent love story of Maddy and Reena was refreshing at the time when it came and its still remembered by its fans fondly. This 2001 movie had songs which still make to people’s romantic songs playlist. This movie was Dia Mirza’s debut in the Hindi film industry.
It also featured Saif Ali Khan in an important role. The film’s story revolves around Maddy (R Madhavan) who had fallen in love with Reena (Dia Mirza) at first sight. In the pursuit of his love Madden pretended to be Reena’s prospective groom to impress her only to break her heart later. But Reena soon realises that she was being lied to when real Rajiv (Saif Ali Khan), the prospective groom, arrives. Just when Reena and Rajiv were about to get married, Rajiv has a realisation that Reena is in love with Maddy and it wouldn’t be right to marry her. The music of the film contributed a lot to its success over the years. All the songs turned into chartbusters and are still fresh in the memories of the audience.
There are talks doing rounds about a sequel of this classic romantic movie, where it will be a continuation of Maddy and Reena’s love story, with certain twists. There are reports that makers have found a script that has appealed to everyone. Madhavan and Dia are expected to be back with their roles as the script of the film is apparently in the final stage of development. It’s going to be a love story but this time, it will be more mature and explore the ways a couple lets misunderstandings and disillusionment get into their relationship.
Jackky Bhagnani is going to produce the sequel. However, neither he nor any member from the cast has said anything official about the same. When asked from the actors they said they are eagerly waiting for it to happen. The sequel will have lots of expectation and pressure from the audience given how much love the first had received. We know the RHTDM fans are eagerly waiting to see the couple’s romance again but until further announcements keep listening to those nostalgic songs from the movie.
