Radhe Shyam was a highly anticipated film. The trailer launch event, film release, promotion and everything was done on a grand scale. Although the trailer was a big turn off at least we were hoping the film to be passable enough. But if we let alone the stardom of Prabhas then the film was unworthy of minting any decent collection.
On day 1, the film garnered around 45 Crores at the box office. It was released on about 3700 screens in Hindi but only managed to earn 4.65 crores in North India. On the other hand, The Kashmir Files minted 2.6 crores on Day 1 that had only 561 screens at hand. It is enough to prove the disastrous response of Radhe Shyam in North India.
After the fiasco of 83 and the decent success of Pushpa: The Rise, a lot of people gave their verdict stating Bollywood is over and now South Indians film will rule. But if look at the facts then Valimai and Khiladi are nothing but disasters in North India, to say the least. Even Bheemla Nayak’s Hindi release is halted now.
Long story short, Pushpa: The Rise defeated only 83 and not the Hindi film industry.
Coming to Radhe Shyam, the film is an absolute turn-off. Apart from the grand scale, there is nothing appreciable about the film. The Hindi dubbed version is so terribly bad that is absolutely unbearable. If we take the case of Atrangi Re then Dhanush used his own voice although he is not fluent in Hindi. But his character also demanded it.
On the other hand, there was no such necessity in Radhe Shyam so it was almost brainless to not use a dedicated dubbing artist for Prabhas in the film.
When some people pointed this problem out then they had to suffer insanely brutal trolling from fanboys who yet again milked the existing unreasonable hatred for Bollywood.
Needless to say, Bollywood has tonnes of issues but it certainly doesn’t deserve any trolling if Radhe Shyam is unsuccessful in impressing the audience.
It’s high time that the Indian film industry as a whole should hash out the problems lying within itself. A film like Radhe Shyam definitely doesn’t deserve to be the face of Indian cinema and fanboys should also understand that.
A star, industry and anyone start rolling down to doom when they take fans for granted and supporting a cringe-worthy film only strengthens the same.
