Raj & DK Unveil Trailer for Their Upcoming Laugh Riot ‘Cinema Bandi’. And It’s Hilarious

Raj & DK Unveil Trailer for Their Upcoming Laugh Riot ‘Cinema Bandi’. And It’s Hilarious

Acclaimed filmmaker duo Raj & DK recently took to Twitter to unveil the trailer of an upcoming offbeat, yet interesting film titled ‘Cinema Bandi’.

It is noteworthy that ‘Cinema Bandi’ is an offering from Raj & DK’s indie films production venture D2R Indie. The filmmaker duo had started this initiative to encourage new formats and new filmmakers.

In another post, they informed that the film is helmed by debutant director Praveen Kandregula and written by Vasanth Maringanti. Produced by Raj & DK and shot by a small group of friends, they called the film an epitome of grassroots filmmaking and a truly independent film and praised the entire team for pulling this off.

The film’s title ‘Cinema Bandi’ actually means a rickshaw used usually in villages for the promotion of a forthcoming or an already running movie. The rickshaw puller drives it around the village and makes people aware of the film, its actors, and other details relevant for marketing the film.

Cinema Bandi‘ trailer starts off with an auto driver apparently explaining to his wife about an expensive-looking camera which someone had left behind in his auto.

After learning that this kind of camera is used for making movies (featuring superstars like Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, and Pawan Kalyan) from a local videographer, the protagonist proposes a seemingly hilarious idea of making a movie by using the lost camera.

The auto driver then tries to assemble a ragtag team of villagers, who could be the film’s probable lead actor (the village barber), writer (a village oldie), and so on.

His team of an actor, writer, and videographer roam around the village in their quest to find the film’s heroine. Right from a vegetable vendor to college toppers, their wait for the prospective heroine seemingly ends when a school-going girl agrees to star in their film. Or not?

The real fun begins when the film’s shooting commences. There are some amusing dialogues like when the videographer tells the film’s hero “Will you sly her if she doesn’t tell you her name”. It’s genuinely funny.

Besides slated to be a laugh-riot, the film’s trailer suggests that it will touch upon the common problems prevalent in a typical village like erratic power supply, water shortage, etc. thereby giving it a socially relevant, light-hearted, feel-good vibe.

The trailer showcases the innocent and innovative efforts of these budding filmmakers led by the village auto driver and is replete with chucklesome snippets from the film.

The essence of the film’s inherent theme is rightfully captured in its tagline “Everyone is a filmmaker…at heart”, which is also beautifully reflected in the film’s trailer as well.

The trailer finally reveals that ‘Cinema Bandi’ will release on the Netflix streaming platform on May 14, 2021. We are eagerly waiting for the film’s release. You can watch the rib-tickling trailer below.
