2021 proved to be a terrific year for the filmmaker duo Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru, or simply known as just Raj & DK, after the phenomenal streaming success of the Manoj Bajpayee starrer espionage web series ‘The Family Man’ Season 2. It was earlier reported that the gifted filmmakers were creating another web series (as producers under their banner D2R films) which was tentatively titled ‘Ashwalinga’.
And now, as per a recent report by eminent entertainment portal Bollywood Hungama, it has been made aware that the ‘Ashwalinga’ web series is now titled ‘Gulkanda’. The series ostensibly stars ‘Mirzapur’ actor Pankaj Tripathi and Kunal Kemmu in the lead roles besides featuring another talented ‘Mirzapur’ actor Abhishek Banerjee. Moreover, Gaurav Gera has also been cast for a role that deceased actor Amit Mistry had partly shot for.
The web series ‘Gulkanda’ is being described as a period comedy that is set during the times of the Kama Sutra. The series is being directed by Rahi Anil Barve, who had also undertaken directorial duties (his debut) for the visually opulent and well-executed 2018 period horror flick ‘Tumbbad’ starring Sohum Shah in the lead role.
‘Gulkanda’ is ostensibly being envisioned as a big-budget project with never-seen-before visuals and is expected to stream on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform this year itself. However, nothing yet has officially been confirmed in this regard.
Besides being busy with ‘Gulkanda’ as producers, Raj & DK’s forthcoming directorial project would be a web series featuring Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles. Moreover, it was recently reported that the duo would also go behind the camera for the high-profile Indian spin from the Russo brothers’ espionage show ‘Citadel’. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Raj & DK’s web series ‘Gulkanda’.
