The Indian cinema is eagerly awaiting the release of Rajamouli‘s RRR. The Indian film fraternity is hoping that RRR will be the larger than life film that pulls all sections of the audience to theatres in big numbers. The film will be out in theatres on the 7th of January 2022. Today, ‘Janani‘, a new song from the film was unveiled and it has drawn a good response from the audience. Now, coming to the topic, Rajamouli appears to be taking the biggest risk with RRR. Wonder how? Here’s the story.
As per the latest reports, Rajamouli has locked a rather lengthy runtime for RRR. The film will have a runtime of 3 hours 6 minutes (186 minutes) which is on the higher side. Needless to say, it isn’t the easiest of tasks to keep the audience engaged for more than 3 hours.
That said, Rajamouli is a master craftsman and his films usually have larger than life span. Also, RRR is the fictional journey of two of India’s most ferocious freedom fighters Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem. So, the premise is strong enough. But the onus is on Rajamouli to hold the attention of the viewers for over 3 hours. And that can happen only if the emotional connect is bang on point and much-hyped action blocks in the film are of spellbinding quality, much like the ones we are used to seeing in Rajamouli’s films.
Rajamouli faced a tricky situation of sorts during the release of Baahubali: The Beginning which had a lengthy runtime. The film opened to mixed reviews in the Telugu states. Rajamouli will be wary of the expectations on RRR now and he would have locked the lengthy runtime only if he is fully confident of holding the attention of the viewers through and through.
