Kollywood talk is here! Superstar Rajnikanth’s socio-political sports drama, ‘Lal Salaam,’ made its global theatrical debut yesterday (February 9), starring Vikranth and Vishnu Vishal in the lead roles. Directed by Aishwarya Rajnikanth and produced by Subaskara Allirajah of Lyca Productions, the film blends sports and religious harmony, delivering a compelling social message.
But wait! The glory of ‘Lal Salaam’ sheds more on delivering the moral than the cricket element in the narrative. Alongside the main cast, notable figures like Jeevitha, KS Ravikumar, Thambi Ramaiah also play vital roles in the film. ‘Lal Salaam’ marks Aishwarya Rajnikath’s return after a seven-year hiatus since her last action/thriller, ‘Vai Raja Vai.’ The musical score is composed by AR Rahman and Vishno Rangasamy serves as co-screenwriter and cinematographer.
‘Lal Salaam’ has been receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. It is said that the social drama carries a profound message, with Rajnijkanth shedding his stardom image to portray Moideen Bhai, a peacemaker, making the film resonate with its viewers. Despite an uneven first half, the film gains cohesion in the second, making ‘Lal Salaam’ pick up the momentum for building a good climax.
There is a buzz among fans that ‘Lal Salaam’ might stream on Netflix, tentatively on March 8. Furthermore, satellite rights for the movie have been acquired by Sun TV, and Sun Network’s Gemini channel has secured the satellite rights for the movie in Telugu. While we await Lal Salaam’s OTT release, you can enjoy watching this in theaters.
