Ranveer Singh is reportedly signed for Prashant Verma’s next feature film. He was previously rumored to be part of the director’s film ‘Jai Hanuman’ which was to be a sequel to the blockbuster success ‘Hanu-man’.
The working title of the movie is ‘Rakshas’ and it will be an action drama based in the pre-independence era. There will be some mythological backdrop in the movie just like ‘Hanu-man’.
There is suddenly a massive surge in movies with mythological themes. Short budget movies like ‘Karthikeya 2’ and ‘Hanuman’ have done wonders and now A-listers from Bollywood too are showing interest in such concepts. Prabhas, Amitabh and Deepika’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ will be dealing with the legend of the Kalki Avatara. Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi are playing Shri Rama and Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’. At this time, it is also very risky to take on a subject like mythology for a movie. Because when the sentiments of audiences are hurt, it does not do well for the film, as we got to see in Adipurush.
It is not known yet whether ‘Rakshas’ will be a Telugu film or a Hindi one. Prashant Verma has a great track record and with Ranveer Singh’s energy and acting prowess the two can achieve wonders. Ranveer Singh’s ‘Don 3’ teaser was trolled by fans and they did not want to see him replace Shah Rukh Khan. The movie was shelved recently. Fans are now excited with the news of the new movie.
