Karan Johar revealed earlier this year that his upcoming directorial romantic drama, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, will hit the big screen on February 10 next year. The film’s shoot was going smoothly, targeting its release during Valentine’s Day 2023 weekend. However, the latest reports have disclosed that the filmmaker has decided to halt the film’s shoot because of Alia Bhatt’s pregnancy. This Dharma project will release in the second half of 2023.
The leading lady, Alia Bhatt, has around 3 to 4 days of shoot with Ranveer Singh this month. After that, she will leave the project due to her pregnancy. Once she completes her July schedule, only 10-15 days of the shoot will remain for her. Johar will announce the new release window of the film soon.
Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani is Johar’s 7th full-fledged directional project after commencing his helming journey in Bollywood with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai nearly 24 years ago. Additionally, he has displayed his helming talents in anthology projects like Bombay Talkies, Lust Stories, and Ghost Stories.
Apart from the forthcoming Dharma film, fans will see Alia Bhatt in Tom Harper’s spy movie, Heart of Stone, alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. On the other hand, Darlings and Brahmastra are currently in the post-production stages. As for Ranveer Singh, he is also busy filming Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus, slated to release on December 23.
