‘Mirzapur’ actress Rasika Dugal has kicked off her second filming schedule for the forthcoming sports drama series aptly titled ‘Spike’ in the scenic town of Palampur situated in Himachal Pradesh.
The second shooting schedule was previously supposed to take place earlier this month on 17th January, which also happened to be Rasika Dugal’s birthday. The shoot was however postponed owing to pandemic concerns. The duration of the ongoing filming schedule for ‘Spike’ is five days if things go as planned. While the show’s first schedule was concluded last year in the month of December.
In ‘Spike’, which is being helmed by Nishtha Shailajan and Dhaval Shah, Rasika Dugal is easing the character of a volleyball coach. As part of the preparation for her role, the actress had trained herself for about three months in the volleyball sport before finally taking the acting plunge for the show.
Rasika Dugal is a proficient performer who had made her acting debut with eminent cinematographer Santosh Sivan’s directorial film ‘Tahaan’ co-starring Rahul Bose, Victor Banerjee, Anupam Kher, and Rahul Khanna. The Jamshedpur-born actress went on to feature in films like ‘Summer 2007’, YRF’s ‘Power’ TV series, ‘Murder 2’, ‘Aurangzeb’, ‘Bombay Talkies’, and ‘Manto’, to name a few.
However, the show that catapulted Rasika Dugal’s name to widespread acclaim was none other than Amazon Prime Video’s cult crime series ‘Mirzapur’ featuring an ensemble cast of Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey, Divyendu Sharma, Shweta Tripathi, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda, amongst others.
Besides ‘Mirzapur’, some other acclaimed projects which Rasika Dugal has been a part of include the Shefali Shah starrer hard-hitting web series ‘Delhi Crime’, comedy crime film ‘Lootcase’, Mira Nair’s period drama ‘A Suitable Boy’, and the lead role in ‘Out of Love’ web series.
