OG Disney fans rejoiced when the highly awaited sequel to its iconic 2003 body-swap classic ‘Freaky Friday’, was announced earlier this year. Not only are the leading duo Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan all set to reprise their roles as the chaotic mother and daughter, respectively, but the new film has had some very interesting cast additions!
In addition to American actress Julia Butters’ joining the ensemble cast for ‘Freaky Friday 2’, actresses Sophia Hammons and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan have also confirmed their roles in the dramatic comedy. Moreover, original cast members including the likes of Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, and more, are also reprising their roles!
It was also recently made official that the movie will get an international theatrical release in 2025, instead of the previously expected silent premiere on Disney+. Intriguingly, the plot boasts a multigenerational twist, as ‘Freaky Friday 2’ picks up years after mother and daughter, Tess and Anna, endured a body-swapping identity crisis.
Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they traverse the multitude of challenges that come when two families combine during a marriage, Tess and Anna discover that their nightmare might just prevail all over again!
