Crash Course, starring Annu Kapoor, is all set to arrive on Amazon Prime Video on August 5. The upcoming web series explores the competition among coaching institutes in Kota. It revolves around the bitter rivalry between Ratanraj Jindal and Arvind Batra. These two guys are owners of the best institutes in the city. But they cannot stand the sight of each other. They are ready to do whatever it takes to sit on the throne of Kota’s coaching industry. As a result, all the students and the teachers become their pawns.
Prime Video released the show’s trailer about a week ago. Since then, people have started comparing it unfavourably with Kota Factory. And they are not wrong about that!
The trailer shows eight students: Anil, Aviral, Sathya, Nikki, Tejal, Shanaya, Rakesh, and Vidhi, commencing their coaching lives in Kota with different mindsets and dreams. They all get admitted into the top two institutes of Kota. How they become friends with one another and go through all sorts of trouble together forms the rest of the story.
We all know that Kota Factory has set a standard that is almost impossible to beat. Crash Course’s plot seems like a modernised version of the iconic TVF show. Plus, it offers a very unrealistic portrayal of the lives of the aspirants living in Kota. Another thing that has been pointed out by viewers is that the show heavily depends upon the dirty politics played by coaching institutes. But the reality is different. Furthermore, it shows all the students partying and giving more importance to friendships.
Crash Course looks like a bastardised version of Kota Factory with vibes of a Karan Johar directional. The show bestows a highly negative portrayal of aspirants’ lives in Kota. Additionally, viewers are targeting a particular dialogue from the show: “This friendship is the real friendship! If you don’t have friends at this age, then you never will.”
Many people have criticised the above-mentioned dialogue, calling it an attempt to misguide young students.
