The hype and excitement around ‘Stranger Things’ season 4 has not settled ever since its announcement. After a long wait of three years, this new season finally released four days ago and started ruling Netflix! This weekend, the show debuted to record numbers.
‘Stranger Things‘ season 4 volume 1 marked the biggest premiere weekend in Netflix’s history. It broke records with a whopping 287 million hours viewed worldwide in the last week. This record was earlier held by ‘Bridgerton‘ season 2 which clocked 193 million hours of viewing over its debut weekend, in March. Now, ‘Stranger Things 4’ holds the title of ‘the most-watched Netflix English-language TV show’ by breaking the ‘Bridgerton’ record by nearly 50%. Wow!
Season 4 volume 1 debut was the first season to reach No. 1 in 83 countries. It also reached the top 10 in all 93 countries that Netflix tracks. Also, Kate Bush’s 1985 song ‘Running Up That Hill,’ which is featured in the season, has hit No. 1 on Apple’s iTunes and No. 2 on Spotify’s U.S. chart since the premiere.
This is not it yet! The top 5 list was hijacked by one or the other season of ‘Stranger Things’. Spot 1 – Season 4 V1, Spot 3 – Season 1, Spot 4 – Season 3, and Spot 5 – Season 2. The only spot missed by this sci-fi series was spot 2, bagged by ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’.
Fans worldwide are clearly going gaga over this fantasy show! Its performance so far is beyond impressive and it will keep getting better. So far, volume 1 consists of 7 episodes. Volume 2 with 2 episodes is scheduled to release on Netflix 1st July. This show has been a hit ever since its release in 2016 and these numbers are proof.
