Thalapathy 66, which marks the coming together of Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay, Vamshi Paidipally, and Dil Raju was officially announced a couple of weeks ago. As it appears, the film has caught the attention of the trade circuit already. It is heard that the satellite rights of Thalapathy 66 were sold off for a record price.
As per reports, the satellite rights of Thalapthy 66 were acquired by Sun TV for a record price. This is said to be one of the biggest ever deals pertaining to satellite rights in Tamil cinema. The exact financial details are not yet disclosed for obvious reasons. It is speculated that Sun TV made a whopping offer to the producer, Dil Raju. Even before the shoot started, he was presented with the opportunity to recover a chunk of the budget that he would later spend on the project and he gleefully accepted the same.
Sun TV is the front-runner to bag the satellite rights of Vijay’s ongoing project, Beast as well. Now, they seem to have sealed the deal for Thalapathy 66 satellite rights as well.
Announcing the project, Vamshi Paidipally had recently tweeted “#Thalapathy66… Sharing with you all an exciting update about my next film with The #Thalapathy @actorvijay Sir, Produced by #DilRaju garu & #Shirish garu under my home banner @SVC_official.”
Thalapathy 66 shoot will be commencing once Vijay is done with Beast. Rumors are rife that Shershaah actress Kiara Advani is in pole position to play the female lead in the Vijay starrer.
