Alia Bhatt’s latest Netflix release, Darlings, is performing exceptionally well on the streaming platform. The film has even outperformed SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus, RRR, in terms of viewing hours in the first week of its release. It currently stands on 4th position with more than 10 million hours of views in its pocket (From Aug 1 – Aug 7). Now, Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment will make Darlings in Tamil and Telugu. Pinkvilla first broke this news.
Gaurav Verma, producer and COO at Red Chillies Entertainment, has confirmed the news, “We had the script of Darlings with us for a while now and through the journey of making it, we decided to make it in multiple languages. The film has a certain landscape which can be adapted very well in multiple languages. The process is on as we speak.”
On asking about making the necessary changes in the films according to the localities, Verma added, “The story remains the same, but we will localize it. Darlings was a story set in Mumbai, but now, we will create a different world for Tamil and Telugu. We localise the characters and their reactions.”
Making Darlings in Tamil and Telugu is a brilliant move from SRK’s production banner. It is undoubtedly a beneficial strategy for RCE. Plus, this scenario bestows a golden chance to the production house to expand its roots in the South Indian film industry.
In addition to Darlings, Red Chillies will dispatch Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan in multiple languages.
Darlings is streaming on Netflix. It stars Alia Bhatt, Vijay Varma, Shefali Shah, and many more. Stay tuned for more updates.
